The whole country had 1,146,250 heroes and martyrs sacrificed, of which 191,605 martyrs died in the resistance war against the French; 849,018 Martyrs died in the resistance war against the US; 105,627 Martyrs sacrificed in wars to defend the Fatherland. More than 200,000 remains of Martyrs have not been found, their bodies are still lying on the battlefields of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, the East Sea… More than 300,000 remains of Martyrs have been gathered in cemeteries but have not been identified be identified with names, hometowns, and units. In addition, during the resistance wars against France, the United States, and the war to protect the Fatherland, more than 4 million civilians in the North and South regions died and suffered lifelong injuries from bombs and bullets, killed by the enemy.
Contributing to the revolutionary cause, the whole country has over 9,000,000 people with meritorious services; 127,000 Vietnamese heroic mothers whose husbands and children died in the wars to protect the Fatherland; over 13,000 Heroes of the People's Armed Forces and Heroes of Labor; nearly 800,000 war invalids and beneficiaries of policies like war invalids; more than 300,000 resistance activists and their children were infected with Agent Orange; nearly 111,000 revolutionary activists and resistance participants were imprisoned, imprisoned and tortured by the enemy in prisons of Hoa Lo, Son La, Lao Bao, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc.

Cả nước đã có 1.146.250 anh hùng, liệt sĩ hy sinh trong đó 191.605 Liệt sỹ hy sinh trong kháng chiến chống Pháp; 849.018 Liệt sỹ hy sinh trong kháng chiến chống Mỹ; 105.627 Liệt sỹ hy sinh trong các cuộc chiến tranh bảo vệ Tổ quốc. Hơn 200.000 hài cốt Liệt sỹ chưa được tìm thấy, thi thể các anh còn nằm lại trên các chiến trường Việt Nam, Lào, Campuchia, Biển Đông… Hơn 300.000 hài cốt Liệt sĩ đã được quy tập về các nghĩa trang nhưng chưa xác định được danh tính tên tuổi, quê quán, đơn vị. Ngoài ra, trong kháng chiến chống Pháp, chống Mỹ, chiến tranh bảo vệ Tổ quốc, có khoảng hơn 4 triệu dân thường ở hai miền Bắc – Nam đã chết và bị thương tật suốt đời do bom đạn, do kẻ thù giết hại.
Đóng góp vào sự nghiệp cách mạng, cả nước có trên 9.000.000 người có công; 127.000 Bà Mẹ Việt Nam anh hùng có chồng, con hi sinh trong các cuộc chiến tranh bảo vệ Tổ quốc; trên 13.000 Anh hùng LLVTND và Anh hùng Lao động; gần 800.000 Thương binh và người được hưởng chính sách như Thương binh; hơn 300.000 người hoạt động kháng chiến và con đẻ bị nhiễm chất độc da cam; gần 111.000 người hoạt động cách mạng, người tham gia kháng chiến bị địch bắt giam, tù đày, tra tấn trong các nhà tù Hỏa Lò, Sơn La, Lao Bảo, Côn Đảo, Phú Quốc…
Chúng ta đời đời biết ơn các thế hệ cha anh đã hy sinh anh dũng để đất nước thống nhất, độc lập, tự do như ngày hôm nay.
